Soft Silicone Rubber
R Pro 10 is a two-component liquid silicone rubber for addition curing, which means it requires two components, a base and a catalyst, to be mixed to initiate curing. This rubber is odorless, orange in color, and suitable for both professional and amateur use, as it is easy and safe to use, since it contains no hazardous ingredients, not even in the platinum catalyst, which is usually the most harmful part.
With the R Pro 10 casting silicone rubber you can create soft molds, even complex and highly detailed ones, unlike resins or harder rubbers where tiny details may be damaged or broken during the demolding phase, when the model is removed from the mold.
Pro 10 is a silicone rubber with a Shore A 12 hardness, a low level that makes it soft and elastic. This rubber also offers excellent dimensional stability, with 0% linear shrinkage. This means that over time the mold does not shrink and retains its original dimensions, resisting aging and lasting over time.
How to Use Soft Silicone Rubber
To use R Pro 10 silicone rubber, shake each component to homogenize it. Equal amounts of base and catalyst (1:1 ratio – e.g., 100g Base A and 100g Catalyst B) should be weighed and poured into a clean, dry, grease-free container and mixed for about 1 minute, ensuring no residue is left on the bottom or sides of the container.
It is important to respect the recommended ratios to guarantee the final characteristics of the product. The resulting silicone should be poured into a mold, ideally from the same point, to avoid trapping air bubbles.
The working time (WT), i.e., the time available to pour all the mixed material, is about 40 minutes from the start of mixing, and curing occurs in approximately 3 hours at 23°C (higher temperatures speed up curing, lower temperatures slow it down).
After 3 hours from the start of mixing, you can demold the model from the soft silicone rubber mold.
If the amount of liquid silicone rubber used is less than required, you can complete the mold by adding the missing amount within 24 hours of pouring the first layer: the second silicone layer will bond to the first without affecting the final result.
Liquid Silicone Rubber for Soft Molds R Pro 10: Usage Tips
R Pro 10 liquid rubber is recommended for creating soft molds, even with fine details and deep undercuts, as it can penetrate everywhere: the soft mold will detach easily from the model, preserving every single reproduced detail.
R Pro 10 rubber is not suitable for matrices containing sulfur or plasticine, as these materials inhibit silicone curing. If the matrix contains these materials, we recommend using R15. If your goal is to create hard molds, we recommend products like R PRO 20 (medium hardness) or R PRO 30 (high hardness).
